When it comes to performance the all-new Hyundai Tucson offers three different powertrains. First up is the powerful 2.5 liter engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Next is the Smartstream 1.6 liter Turbo-charged hybrid engine which offers greater efficiency and power or choose the best of both worlds with the Smartstream 1.6 liter Turbo-charged with a plug-in hybrid engine with the ability to travel on solely; electric power when you want it, gas when you need it.
Intuitive buttons replace the traditional gear shifter on select models. The shift by wire system also features paddle shifters for a sport feel. For the ultimate on handling performance and traction there’s the h-track all-wheel drive system. It lets you select the appropriate traction setting that bests suit the driving conditions with three terrain modes; Snow, mud or Sand. The 2022 Hyundai Tucson also features drive mode select.
Toggle between different modes to find your preferred engine transmission and steering control settings. You can choose between Eco, Sport and Smart.
The redesigned 2022 Hyundai Tucson appears to offer more than its predecessors, so it’s no surprise that pricing is up for the new model. It starts at $26,135, a $1250 increase from last year’s Tucson and prices range up to above $38,000 for a loading version of the new hybrid variant. A plug-in-hybrid version of the Tucson is also on its way but Hyundai has not yet released pricing.
All-wheel drive is a $1400 option for all trims. In addition to the base SE (starting at $26,135), options include the SEL (starting at $ 27,685), N Line (starting at $31,785) and Limited (starting at $35,885). Unlike the Sonata and Elantra N Line models, Tucson N Line does not have any performance upgrades and instead amounts to an appearance package.
The Tucson hybrid comes standard with an all-wheel drive and a gas-electric drivetrain that uses turbocharged 1.6 liter inline-four gasoline engine and a six-speed automatic transmission. It’s more expensive than the nonhybrid, starting at $30,235 for the base Blue model. It also offers better equipped SEL ($32,835) and Limited ($38,535) models. EPA fuel-economy estimates not yet available but we expect a combined rating of around 36mpg.
